Re: Ken Walkey’s letter March 1, “Let Trump do his job”:
Trying to convince Trump’s critics to be silent is entirely foolish. The Resist movement is alive and well and will elect Democrats to Congress as a check on this dangerous and out-of-control president (at least until Mueller completes his Russia investigation).
Apparently Walkey thinks America is being made great again, but Trump’s approval rating has been the lowest in history. Trump has run a corrupt administration full of scandal, fostered the diminishing of America’s standing abroad, and created situations that will have to be legislated in the future because he is without integrity or ethics.
We will have to require future candidates to reveal their tax returns, because the honor system doesn’t work on those without honor. Laws will have to be passed to prevent the president from maintaining business connections and using the office to benefit financially, to prevent nepotism, to limit the power to pardon co-conspirators, to strengthen the separation of the Justice Department and the White House, and the list goes on and on.
Walkey mentions how we worked with Republican or Democratic presidents in the past for the “good of the country.” He must have slept through the eight years of President Obama, when criticism of him was constant, savage and often racist.
Ken Walkey’s letter will do nothing to prevent people from criticizing the worst president since Nixon, and Ken should get ready because a wave election is about to arrive.
